Google upgrades its in-car entertainment system with many new applications. At the same time, the company also helps developers bring their applications to this platform faster and easier.

Specifically, two streaming services Max and Peacock will be available on cars with Google built-in. These are models from Renault, Polestar and Volvo. (Other brands such as Ford, Acura and Honda do not yet support video viewing while the vehicle is parked).

In addition, the Google-integrated car also has the Angry Birds game for you to entertain while the car is parked. (Note that video viewing and gaming applications only work when the vehicle is not running to ensure safety).

For Android Auto users, they will soon be able to add the Uber app. This is especially useful for Uber drivers, helping them receive and navigate easily right on the car’s main screen.

Finally, Google partnered with Rivian to launch the new Google Cast feature. Rivian famously doesn’t allow phone mirroring but does use Google Maps as its default map. Google Cast allows users to project video content from their phone or tablet to their car while the car is parked. “If your app doesn’t yet support casting, this is a simple way to get your content to users in the car,” Google said.

Google is gradually adding video streaming apps to the Android platform, after announcing YouTube and Prime Video integration last year. Meanwhile, Tesla owners have been able to watch Netflix , Hulu , and YouTube since 2019. Anyway, better late than never!
