The Sims' rival - Life by You is officially canceled - Techlade

Life by You was first revealed in 2023 with impressive features: real-time simulation of an entire town and no loading screen. However, according to a forum post by Paradox Deputy CEO Mattias Lilja, the game has some issues that would be difficult to fix even with more development time.

“A few weeks ago, we decided to postpone the Early Access release to re-evaluate Life by You, as we still felt the game was lacking in some important areas,” said Lilja. A time limit was an option, but after pausing to get a better overview of the game, we realized the path to a version we were confident in was too long and uncertain.”

Lilja said that Life by You “has some strengths,” but the company realized that “when we got to a point where we believed that more time wasn’t going to get us to the version we wanted, It’s better to stop.”

The game’s Early Access launch was originally set for September 2023, but was pushed to March 2024 , then June , and delayed indefinitely in May before being officially canceled. .

The Life by You team isn’t the only one trying to create a new version of The Sims: the former XCOM developers recently founded Midsummer Studios to develop their own new life simulation game. But EA is also working on developing more versions of The Sims, with a new free Sims game codenamed Project Rene.
