Two senior leaders of Expedia, Rathi Murthy (chief technology officer) and Sreenivas Rachamadugu (vice president in charge of product and engineering), suddenly left this online travel booking company.
Expedia said the reason was a violation of the company’s internal policies but did not disclose details. They are looking for a replacement and affirm that they still believe in the technology strategy and employees.
The departure of Murthy and Rachamadugu was quite surprising because just recently Murthy spoke about Expedia’s new AI features and participated in demonstrations at partner conferences.
Murthy insists she has always been honest and dedicated throughout her career, is proud of her contributions to Expedia and will share details about the incident when appropriate.
It is known that both joined Expedia in 2021 from Yahoo (formerly Verizon Media, TechCrunch’s parent company).
This isn’t Expedia’s only recent leadership change. Ariane Gorin, the new CEO appointed in February, officially took office this week.
