Google has just rolled out a secure password sharing feature for members of the same Family Group. This makes it easy for everyone in the house to access passwords to shared services like Netflix . The new feature appears in the Google Play Services May 2024 update, which is rolling out now.

This feature only works with passwords saved in Google Password Manager – a service that stores passwords and access keys right on Chrome and Android, linked to your Google account. Currently, password sharing only works on mobile devices, not supported on Chrome computer browser. When you share a password with a family member, a copy is saved in that person’s Password Manager.

Note, you can only share passwords with people in your Google-approved Family Group (up to 6 people). If you want to share your password with others, you’ll need to use Nearby Share to share directly or use basic methods, which may be less secure.
