The devices are expected to hit shelves in April and were announced Thursday morning during an online event. This is Microsoft’s latest move to make the AI Copilot tool a standard for businesses, part of a broader competition strategy with other enterprise technology providers such as Google, Salesforce, Amazon and many others. .

During the event, Microsoft detailed its ongoing integration of AI features into its software offerings, including Windows, Teams, OneNote, and other applications widely used by businesses.

Among other features, Microsoft’s new Surface devices include a dedicated Copilot hardware dongle that the company announced earlier this year. Prices for the devices start at around $1,200.

Microsoft also said it will offer Microsoft adaptive accessories for businesses.

Microsoft’s launch of new devices comes as the Surface business is trying to recover from a recent decline. According to the company’s registration filing, revenue for the devices segment in the six months to December 31, 2023 fell to $2.4 billion, compared with $2.9 billion in the same period last year.

Panos Panay, Microsoft’s former Chief Product Officer for Windows & Devices, left the company last year to lead Amazon’s Devices & Services business.

Earlier this week, Microsoft appointed Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind and former Vice President of AI at Google, to lead a new organization called Microsoft AI, focused on consumer AI products and research. .
