Google Sheets has just updated the feature to easily create tables with just one click, something Excel has had for many years. Now you can quickly turn a range of data into a table with separate filtering and sorting functionality.
Instead of having to set up filtering and sorting each section like before, this new feature will help users save significant time. This is something many Google Sheets users have been looking forward to for a long time.
This automatically generated board looks somewhat similar to the AI-generated boards at Google’s I/O developer conference, but seems more aimed at casual users and doesn’t require integration with Gemini. To use this feature, simply select the data area and click Format> Convert to table.
Google Sheets will automatically create filters for each column, add line separators, format column styles, filter, and create drop-down menus more easily. Besides, there is also a table menu that allows creating filter groups for the entire table or adjusting the data range. Google says this update also comes with a new view option called “Create grouped views,” which lets you group data by column filters — by priority, for example. There are also pre-designed board templates for “daily tasks like project management, inventory management, event planning, etc.”
The new board feature isn’t available to everyone yet. Google will roll it out gradually in stages. It is expected that some users will have it by May 30th and everyone will have it before June 6th.
