Leaked news about Google’s new Pixel phone reappears! This time, all three models of the Pixel 9, 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL are clearly visible in a series of photos from Rozetked – up to 5 months before Google’s usual October launch date.
Although there are still many questions about why and how these devices appeared so early, here is what we have. The most notable is the regular Pixel 9 Pro, which will finally pack Google’s best camera into a full-sized phone. Meanwhile, the Pixel 9 Pro XL looks significantly taller than Apple ‘s iPhone 15 Pro Max.
As for the familiar horizontal bar design containing the camera, will Google still keep this name when it no longer takes up the entire back of the phone? This is a pretty big change in the way the Pixel line looks, but this new style is still quite unique compared to what Apple and Samsung are doing. As usual, the standard Pixel 9 will have a dual camera system, while the Pro version has a third lens for telephoto and zoom shots.
Is Google trying to beat itself up with earlier leaks each year? Does the early appearance of these devices mean that Google will adjust the launch date to earlier in 2024? Who knows, maybe we’ll see a sneak peek of the Pixel 9 during the keynote at Google I/O tomorrow? We already know what they look like anyway; Google, please at least show us more colors.
In the meantime, the mid-range Pixel 8A for $499 goes on sale this week, which isn’t a bad choice if you don’t mind thicker screen bezels and a camera that isn’t Google’s most advanced.
