Acer, a brand commonly known for computers, has suddenly launched an interesting photography product: the SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo camera. This camera is capable of taking 3D photos and videos, allowing users to livestream 3D content to YouTube and make 3D video calls on Zoom, Teams and Google Meet platforms.
SpatialLabs Eyes Stereo is expected to hit shelves in the third quarter of this year with prices starting from $549 (about 12.7 million VND). The camera is fully compatible with Acer’s 3D devices, such as the Aspire 3D 15 SpatialLabs Edition laptop , which impresses with its ability to display 3D content without glasses. Photos and videos captured with SpatialLabs Eyes can also be viewed on other 3D displays, 3D projectors, virtual reality (VR) glasses, or on the camera itself.
The livestream and 3D video calling features are quite limited, but show Acer’s efforts to expand 3D SpatialLabs technology. The 3D experience on the Acer device is truly impressive, delivering outstanding visuals without the need for glasses. Compared to older glasses-free 3D products like the Nintendo 3DS console, Acer’s technology is far superior in terms of image quality. SpatialLabs Camera makes 3D filming easier for non-professionals.
SpatialLabs Eyes are compact, weighing 220 grams and measuring 4 x 2.5 x 0.9 inches. The camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels for each eye, integrated “selfie mirror” and familiar photography features such as electronic image stabilization (EIS) and the ability to manually adjust ISO, white balance and shutter speed. . The camera also has a 1500mAh battery, a microSD card slot for storage expansion, and a 2.4-inch touchscreen protected by a “weatherproof” cover.
Livestreaming to YouTube requires the latest version of Acer SpatialLabs Player, while support for 3D video conferencing with a “custom depth feature” will be enabled via the SpatialLabs video calling widget coming in Q3.
