Both Samsung and LG launched new OLED TVs this month. The prices of the two brands are quite similar, and small improvements may be the deciding factor for users to choose the type of TV that suits their needs.

Samsung launches 2024 OLED TV with the highlight of breakthrough anti-glare technology

Samsung announced its 2024 TV prices on Wednesday, with the cheapest OLED model, the 55-inch S90D, starting at $2,000. This price is on par with the 55-inch LG C4, an equivalent OLED model that competes directly with Samsung.

Samsung’s most notable advancement in OLED this year is the anti-glare technology on the S95D, a higher-end OLED line that starts at $2,600 for the 55-inch size. That product line competes with LG’s G4, and the prices between the two companies are almost similar. We haven’t reviewed the S95D yet, but we’re eager to see how this TV performs in a bright room. We were impressed with the short demo of the screen’s anti-reflective coating at CES.

LG and Samsung will compete to see which company leads the premium OLED TV segment this year. OLED TVs delivered the best picture quality of any TV we tested at the CNET test lab, and LG’s C3 and Samsung’s S95C, in particular, competed for the title of our best OLED TV. last year.

QN65S90DAFXZAS90D65-inches$2,699March

It’s important to note that LG continues to offer more OLED TV sizes in 2024. Its 42- and 48-inch C4 TVs cost $1,500 and $1,600, respectively, while Samsung doesn’t offer those smaller sizes. LG also has 83-inch OLED TVs in the C4 and G4 lines.

Other Samsung 2024 models will launch soon, following their announcement at CES, including the Neo QLED 8K, with the QN900D and QN800D models both ranging in size from 65 to 85 inches.

Its Neo QLED 4K TVs come in more sizes: 43 to 98 inches for the Q90D, or 55 to 85 inches for the QN85D. Both of these models start at just under $1,500 for the smallest size.

Samsung’s Frame TV, an aesthetically pleasing model that displays artwork when idle, ranges in size from 43 to 75 inches.

New TV prices will start high this time of year, offering discounts for most 2023 models. We generally recommend picking up last year’s TV models as long as they’re in stock, as there’s not much change between models in the same product line from year to year. (Important note: If Samsung’s anti-glare feature on the S95D works well, this will be a big plus for those looking for a TV for bright rooms. More on that in our S95D review me, coming soon.)

Pre-orders for all TVs in Samsung’s new lineup are now available.
